Oh, Valentines is so much fun! We love the chocolates, especially the snickers shaped in hearts that the kids received in Sunday School last Sunday. Hadassah is enjoying the little heart shaped chocolate cake ... also something from Sunday School. I made red jello on Saturday and it's so yummy! The heart shaped brownies dabbed with fresh, real whipped cream didn't stand a chance at our cousin get together. The little individual jellos with chocolate hearts put a big smile on the faces of Hadassah, Matthew and Mike because they like when I go the extra mile for a fun dessert every now and then!!!
Yep ... midst all this sweet eating, we also have dentist appointments this week. Matthew vowed that he is having NO SWEETS today ... we will see???
At the grocery store yesterday, my hands reached for strawberries and raspberries because they are great fruits to add to some pretty Valentine foods. So far, the raspberries were added to my oatmeal this morning. :)
"Cupid's Cups" is what these little Jello desserts are called. It was an online recipe find. Easy.
I started with melting some chocolate and piping it inside five glasses and then setting them in the fridge to harden.
Then I boiled 1 cup of water and added 3 oz. of strawberry Jello and stirred for 2 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of cold water and pour into prepared cups. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until the Jello is firm.
Boil another one cup of water and add another 3 oz. of strawberry jello. Stir for 2 minutes. Put some ice cubes in a 1 cup measuring cup and then fill the rest of it with water to equal a total of 1 cup really cold water. Add the hot Jello mixture to this cold mixture and stir until it thickens. Stir in 1 cup thawed Cool Whip and spoon this on top of the gelatin layer in the cups. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Decorate as desired!
I piped some chocolate hearts on wax paper and stuck them in the freezer and after spraying some whipped cream on our Jello desserts, we topped it with a chocolate heart! It just looks so much better with a chocolate heart topped on top!!! It tastes way better too! :)
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO ~
