Friday's are always laundry day and getting ready for some weekend fun. I decided to make my Marinara sauce and so things were being chopped and cooked in the kitchen all forenoon. The kids were having fun with Wyatt. He was here for the day. I was really hoping to get out to AT&T before supper because Austin dropped my phone the other week and my screen cracked. I used it like that for awhile but then took the plunge into Park City to get it fixed on Wednesday. I made an appointment at Apple but when I asked them how long it would take, they said an hour and half. It was already 12 PM and I just couldn't see Austin lasting that long in the mall waiting for my phone. So, I went right outside the store and asked the little mall strip man if he can fix it. "Yes. It will take me 20 minutes." What??? OK, that was too good to turn down, so I canceled my appointment with Apple and gave the other man my phone. Austin and I went to eat some lunch and came back and my phone looked great!!! I swiped my credit card and we were on our way home!!! Yeah!!! That was on Wednesday but on Thursday night, I went to plug in my phone to charge and nothing happened. No charge. I tried other chargers and was frustrated. Oh well, be that way I thought. I'll try in the morning. Friday morning, I only had a small bit of battery left and after trying many times, it still didn't charge up. My phone died. So, after the Marinara was all canned and Austin was sleeping, I left the older kids at home and Ashlyn and Wyatt went with me out to get my dead phone checked out.
AT&T tried to charge my phone on their charger but nothing seemed to help. Was there a mistake from my new screen??? It worked fine the first night after it was fixed but now this? I don't know. We waited around to see if it would start charging but nope. Nothing. I came back home and had to think of how it was just years past. I lived most of my life so far without a cell phone but now going without a phone is annoying and disturbing!!! I kept thinking of things to use my phone for. I wanted to go yard saling Saturday morning and I wanted to check the weather. No phone. I couldn't use my Yard Sale app neither. No phone. No calling anyone or texting.
We went to Hadassah's volleyball game that night and they won the first three games!!! It was so much fun to watch and we can't wait for a good volleyball season!!! Good job girls!!! And, I have no pictures to prove they won because ... I still had a dead phone. :) We went to Chilies with Vic's and Gerald's after the game and had a good time munching on chips and salsa!!!
Saturday we woke up to rain outside. No yard saling now. That was OK though because we had another lazy morning!!! Fun, fun!!! Mike and Austin went to the shop a little and then Hadassah and I did some shopping after lunch. The new Tanger Outlet shops are open and it was crazy busy out there but we still had fun!!! We came back to change and grab the Marble Chase game before going out to Matt and Lena for supper and a game night!!!
Sunday morning we stayed home and pretended we were at the cabin or some retreat. I cooked bacon and eggs and the kids even said that it seemed the cabin. Thumbs up!!! :) We all lounged in the living room as we played Bible Trivia. I love this game and it really helps to refresh my Bible knowledge. It was overcast all day but at 4 PM, we loaded up our bikes and went to Lititz with Matt's to ride the bike trails. This was so much fun!!! (Last year we went to York and took Dad and Mom Lapp along. It just hits me time and time again that Dad Lapp is now not here anymore. It's been hard and sad and Mom is really missing Dad and going through those grieving stages. Please pray for her and the rest of us as this is really sinking in and we are missing Dad!!!)
The bike path was short but really nice for the kids. Austin and Adrian sat in the bike cart and did great!!! Hunter and Ashlyn rode side by side. Matthew was up front with us adults and we had such a fun time. We grabbed a bite to eat and then biked back to our vehicles. The sun came out and shone bright all evening!!! We all came back here for a campfire and smores!
Mike was mowing and suddenly the mower stopped. We are having such issues with the belt coming off. He was so frustrated and finally went to pick up the Amish man that knows how to fix it. They both got under the mower and fixed the belt!!! The yard looks so nice and green and I don't ever remember an August with such lush grass. All the rains and cooler weather has it looking so beautiful!!! I did the trimming and blew off the driveway while Mike finished up the mowing. Then we all got ready to have dinner with the Lapp Family. Uncle Sam and Lydia invited Mike's whole family for supper and it was delicious. We love getting together as family and eating good food on a gorgeous evening around a campfire was relaxing. We MISSED Dad Lapp so much. It just hurts to see Mom alone and not having Dad around any more. Grieving is hard and missing Dad is not easy!!!
We have a fresh litter of kittens. Ashlyn was so excited. If these survive, this momma cat is not very loyal to her kittens, they will be for sale in a few short weeks!!!
Now, the kids are back to school this morning. Austin and I went out for lots of fruits and vegetables and lunch box snacks!!! The pantry is now restocked and we have another volleyball game to go to tonight!!!
Labor Day Weekend was fun, relaxing and time well spent with family!!!
