Christmas Vacation has begun!!!

Cheers!!!

Yeah!!!

Christmas vacation has begun!!!

First grade was buzzing with action when Austin and I dropped by.  It was story time after they did a craft.

They made trains out of candy but the glue didn't seem to hold very well.

We wished everyone at school a Merry Christmas and then we were off to say good bye to Mommy D..  She left on the bus today heading for Florida for the Winter.  Then we made a quick stop to grab some lunch ... soft pretzels for us and fries for Hadassah.  Sounds like terrible vacation foods but I promise it will get better!!!

The little ones wanted to get out and feed the goats.  Why not???

We all came home and things were suddenly everywhere!  Back packs on the floor that were then hung up for next year!  :)  Candy cane wrappers on the floor were then picked up and thrown in the trash.  Christmas cards that were supposed to be given to the high school teachers are now back on the kitchen counter.  ://  The fruit got devoured at school but there were a ton of cookies left over.  Some were put in the freezer and others in the cookie jar.  And talking about cookies ... here a fun one to add to any winter day sweet tooth!  I've made these for many years and I'm sure they are re posted often on my blog, but here it goes again.  Because they are tasty and look fantastic on cookie platters!

Peppermint Melt away Cookies:

Start by mixing 1 cup of butter, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract, 1 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 cup cornstarch.  Shape into 1" balls and bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.  Cool and then top them with: 2 Tb. butter, 1 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, 2 Tb. milk, 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract and crushed candy canes.  They really do just melt in your mouth when you eat them and they have the perfect amount of peppermint flavor!!!  Enjoy!

Now, the house needs some order and laundry folded.  It's "real life" here in our house and we are hoping to have a merry time this whole holiday season!!!  I might just begin this afternoon by opening up a new puzzle and start piecing pieces!!!  Or read some more Christmas literature?  Or I'm feeling maybe a nap???  Whatever it may be ... let the spirit of Christmas flood through the house and the happy holiday begin!!!

Happy Christmas weekend to you!!!
