What a fun weekend we had just right here at home!!! For many years we went to Dublin, Ohio, over Labor Day to watch Mike play baseball. We kept making comments about how we used to pack up and take the kids with us and drive those seven hours out and back after games of baseball. After very dirty and sometimes muddy children!!! We talked about the late nights at the motel with the ball team and swimming in the motel pool. The even later nights at the restaurants because if you keep winning your ballgames, it gets late when you actually go out to grab a bite to eat!!! IT WAS ALL SO MUCH FUN but we enjoyed this weekend here at home just as much!!!
With being at home this Labor Day Weekend, I hoped to spend some time at the pool or do something as a family on Friday but the weather wasn't the nicest and we ended up working around the house and mowing the lawn. With these thunderstorms and rains we keep having, it still has the grass growing and us mowing twice a week. The rains made me come inside after mowing around the house. I got dried off and soon the rains stopped so I went back out and mowed the back yard. Matthew mowed the car wash yard and weed ed for me here at home. The kids helped pull the weeds and some days the outside work seems overwhelming. Mike came home earlier from work and him and I ended out at The Corner Coffee shop for my first Pumpkin Latte!!! We drank our coffees and browsed The Smucker Village before joining the children back home!!! I love our little nights out like this!!!
Saturday some of us slept in. Mike and Matthew went golfing together and had a really good time!!! Matthew golfed 100 and is really getting good at the game of golf! I think I made breakfast four different time. Each time I made some eggs and served it, then the next child would wake up and ask for breakfast!!! We are thankful for our daily five eggs a day we collect from the chickens!!! Mike got the tractor out and filled the small sink hole with fresh dirt. Hadassah went with friends to a market. We invited Mike's family to come over for a campfire and food that evening. It didn't suit everyone but we still had a fun time roasting steak, ribs and brisket over the fire!!! It was a warm night but the campfire kept the bugs away from us!!! Ashlyn and Austin love it when their cousins come over and they jumped on the trampoline and James and Javon rode the jeep around the back yard while Matthew putted his golf balls!
Mike gave me the OK to set up some fall things in the house. He doesn't want to rush summer out the back door and neither do I but I seem to be a bit quicker to change into Fall Season!!! I love it!!!
Sunday Mike got up early even though we got to bed late and went biking. He loves to do this first thing in the morning! His fall allergies are not too bad yet and we are hoping it stays like this!!! We let the children sleep in and we stayed home from church and read our Bibles together in the living room. Sometimes its just a good idea and stay home and enjoy each other!!! Again, we ate eggs and bacon for breakfast and as I was cooking the bacon Ashlyn said, "Why does it smell like the mountains in here?" :))) Let's just say that bacon is a traditional mountains food!!! We relaxed and then headed down to Dave and Suz for a night of fun with our buddies!!! Dave's made a pond at their house and it was the first that the children swam in it! They loved it but it's always challenging to keep my eyes peeled on the little ones! Ponds can be so dangerous if your not watching and making sure the little ones don't fall in the deep part and keep their puddle jumpers on. AND, even though we were watching and we even prayed together before we ate that God would keep us all safe as we have fun together, things happen. Matt Lapp was giving a golf cart ride and when he went to go, Austin fell off. He cried but wasn't hurt and hopped right back on. We were all looking at the golf cart when suddenly JR Fisher sees two of the three year old reach into the pond for a football that was floating in the deep part. They both fell in and he went running to rescue them. Matt Lapp saw JR and he jumped the fence and jumped in the pond to help rescue the two little ones. By now, the rest of us were on our feet and running to help too! JR Rose jumped in the pond to to help get them all out safe and sound!!! It was scary for a little bit and even more chills to think what might have happened if JR wouldn't have seen them fall in. We held the children tighter that night and still got to enjoy the night around the campfire! The older kids were swimming until 10:30 PM! Matthew and Ashlyn had a great time swimming under the stars!!!
It was a hot day yesterday!!! I made a Peach Dutch Baby for breakfast and more omelets! Mike took the boys with him to pick something up that the men down at church needed for the building project. I had tons of laundry that I was kept busy with but Ashlyn and I did get to go to the pool for a few hours! She loves to swim with Sophia and was delighted to see her there too! Hadassah was at Six Flags with the youth and had a very fun time riding rides and hanging out!
After the boys left the church project, Mike took them to a pond that Matt and his boys were fishing at. Austin caught his first fish and loved it! We ended up all back home and got cleaned up and refreshed before going to Matt's for homemade ice cream!!!
Peach Dutch Baby!
And this is our pool side lunch!!! The pool serves the best grilled chicken salad and a side of sweet potato fries never disappoints!!! Thank you Nickle Mines for being so good to us this summer!!!
We are not ready to say good bye to summer just yet and with the fore cast saying 90's and humid this week, summer will be here a bit longer! Even though Labor Day Weekend seems to close out summers for us, we will take the warm, sunny days and enjoy fall whenever it comes!!! I did get the blessing from Mike to set out some fall décor and get my fall scents burning in the house!!! :)))
Today the children are back to school and Austin is my sidekick!!!
I hope your weekend was relaxing and have a great week!
