Belize ~ part 2: Ashlyn caught on pretty quickly on how to use the word BELIZE is other words. She kept coming up with cute little sentences like … "You better BELIZE me that today is so unBELIZEably fun!" :))) Her and I kept talking to each other like this through out our vacation!
Here's another tour through our Belize vacation.
I think I mentioned that we ate at Robins for breakfast each morning but we did chose this place one morning instead of Robins. The reason was because Robins was on the other side of town and we needed to pay $10 to cross the bridge each day. We decided to try this place and stay a little closer to our resort. The food was delicious!!!
Belize has hot sauce at every single restaurant! That's what's in the red bottle. Matthew and Mike used this a lot!
Matthew tried the fry jacks! He loved it!
Ashlyn and Austin shared waffles with strawberries cooked in with it!
Mike and I shared this breakfast burrito!
There are no Starbucks in Belize but there is Marbucks! :))) Hadassah wanted to try this one morning!
The pool side foods were the best. We really did only order enough food for those who were hungry and tried not to waste a bite! When you buy breakfast, lunch and dinner … for a family of six … the bill adds up quickly! These loaded nachos were sharable and yummy!!!
All my Truck Stop pictures got terrible in color and just not real good in quality but it was a favorite place for us to go for ice cream. We didn't have to cross the bridge for this place and we enjoyed all the yummy flavors!
Here are more photos of Robins! Mike, well everyone, loved the watermelon juice but they also had the best limeade!!!!
These small kitchens/restaurants are nothing fancy!!! They only have a few simple pans but make the best food! Here she is grating fresh cheese! They always use only fresh cheese! It's delicious!
Salt is an ingredient that I asked for often. It wasn't something that was on every table like hot sauce was.
The kids would often finish up their food and then go hop on the golf cart and wait for the rest of us to come!
This is right outside our penthouse. We had a three bedroom, two bath house on the third floor. The front porch faced towards the ocean. It was perfect for our family!
Then when we got to the bottom of the steps we were only steps away from the pool! Ashlyn was standing on some steps that crossed over the pool into the eating area! So cool!
The kids loved their little nets! We took walks along the ocean. And you see all that seaweed? Every day there were men that shoveled it all up, loaded it by hand onto wheelbarrows and hauled it away! To keep a resort in tip top shape takes lots of work!
It looks like I took pictures only of our two youngest but that's not true. The two youngest were just more photogenic! The two older kids are always like "not now Mom"!
Austin was determined to take a picture and here's what he captured! This was beside the pool area and our house was directly behind us to the right of the photo!
Blue Water Grill is a gorgeous restaurant right along the water in town. We ate here our late night in Belize and ordered some key lime pie and chocolate cake for dessert!!!
More ice cream from the Truck Stop!
Jonathon and Marilyn and their family were staying at another resort and we were in Belize only a few days together. We were privileged to get to take a boat ride out to "their resort beach" one day with them!!! We really debated if we should go because our skins were sun burnt and the kids really needed to keep their shirts on to swim and should be in the shade but when we got to this beach, we were not disappointed!!! I knew we wouldn't be because Belize is gorgeous anywhere along the water but this beach had a huge area where the kids could wade and walk around in the clear water and look at crabs, fish and any other sea life that came close enough!!!
They had these coolest beds out in the water!
We pretty much claimed this area because it was in the shade! :)))
We ate supper one evening at a grill along the water and watched the sunset go down!!! Beautiful! And then we spied a crocodile floating past!!!
Austin keeps singing "Who did, who did, who did swallow Jonah?" This story is very intriguing to him!!!! And so when the kids spied this huge fake whale along the beach, they went running to check it out!!!!
Just imagine really getting swallowed up by a huge fish? And living inside the belly for three days???? It's true! Read the entire story in the Bible in the book of Jonah!
I just love all the tropic vibes!!!!!!
Again, all that seaweed got removed daily!
These days were the best ever!!!!
XOXO!
