24th Wedding Anniversary Trip of a life time!!!! Saint Lucia!

Saint Lucia here we come!  Mike and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary last week and we booked a trip to a far away island and we could not wait to go and see this paradise!

Why Saint Lucia?  We considered Hawaii because I think that would be top notch to see but after looking at the days and schedule, we are just not ready to leave the kids behind for a full week.  Not yet!  We asked our friends and Saint Lucia was requested.  We booked at Zoetry Marigot Bay!  Five days is going to be perfect!!!!

We left very early on Wednesday morning to catch our flight out of Philadelphia.

We had a layover in Miami and look at this police man made out of Legos!!!!
We hopped on another flight to Saint Lucia!

We arrived at the airport and then drove 50 minutes to our resort!  We told the drier of the truck that he's on the wrong side of the vehicle and driving on the wrong side of road!  He laughed.  I was so ready to be there after those roller coaster roads with whizzing through the mountains on the wrong side of road, I was feeling some road sickness.

Zoetry Marigot Bay was beautiful!  It was along the bay where many boats and yhats came in!

We had our personal butler bring our luggage up to our Penthouse and what a hike to our room it was!  Steep ramp, 65 steps up and to the top level!  The view was so pretty!  He also brought us supper to our room because we were ready to relax after all those miles traveled!

After refreshing, we went for dessert at one of the five restaurants on the resort.  With this all inclusive resort, we were sure to try new foods and enjoy the delicacies on the island!

Key lime cheesecake with sorbet!

We woke up to sunshine and island music!  To spend five days here was going to be a blast!

The restaurant that we ate breakfast at each morning was our favorite!  The French toast and sides and Benedict was just wonderful!

The fruits and juices were all amazing!

Here's the view from our top floor!  I was nervous walking on the porch because the boards were not thick and it felt like they could break while walking on it but the view was a must see!

We were told that if we want to enjoy the beach, we would need to take a boat ride there.  We couldn't wait to see what the beaches looked like!  So far we could see the crystal clear Caribbean waters!

We laughed when we hopped on the boat, went straight across to a small island directly across our resort.  It was not what I had in mind.  The sand was OK.  The local guys were quick to offer us drinks and towels but there wasn't any beach chairs available.  They searched a bit and found one for me and Mike was given a chair that needed to be propped by a wood wedge to keep the back up.  OK, not our best first impression but we knew that we would be smitten with this place soon!  Our butler brought us the best fish and chicken tacos!  The sun was warm and we swam in the water!  There were others on the beach and after a bit, Mike was able to get a better seat!  ðŸ¤£

We were told that when you want to return back to the resort, ring the "bell".  The "bell" was a bell cover with a large metal spoon connected by a string that you would clang to ring the bell.  I guess they thought the boat driver would be able to hear this and after 30 minutes of waiting, assistance came!  Island time is where we were!

That night we took the sunset cruise!  Boats were our friends on this trip and we loved it!  We hopped aboard to watch the sun set over the ocean!  Music, drinks and water were all so fun!

The sunset was so pretty and I loved this time together!  Supper was eaten back at the resort and was delicious!

We woke up to another day of sunshine!  Watching boats come and go was a highlight!

I had to try the banana pancakes!  And this cucumber relish was so good!

We decided to spend the day at the resort pool.  Sipping on Pina Coladas and reading our books by the water was a highlight!  We did go across the bay again to the beach that night and I just love palm trees on an island!

Diner was again at the resort and Mike loved the octopus appitizer!!!!!  While we enjoyed our meal, we watched Austin play his basketball game online!

Another day .... another adventure!  We were super excited for this day!!!!  The Joy Adventure Tour was sure to be a good one!!!!!

Hopped on a boat after breakfast and viewed the Piton mountains as we traveled to our first stop!

Welcome Soufriere! This was about 40 minutes from our resort and a town full of people!

We got into a van and drove off to our first excursion!  As we drove through the streets, I saw a wheelbarrow full of fresh fish and a scales.  People were buying this and taking it home to cook.

After driving through the winding roads, on the wrong side again, we arrived at a volcano!  This volcano erupted many years ago but still was steaming and giving off water and minerals that were very warm!  Locals were there to sell us souvenirs.  The mountains surrounded us there.

We were told to rub the mineral rich mud all over our bodies and then wash off in the volcanic warm water pools.  What a cool experience!!!!!!

I got to buy my first real coconut to drink from on the island!  The coconut water was room temperature but refreshing!  After a mineral bath and coconut water we were sure we looked and felt ten years younger!!!!!!

I laughed when I saw this used water bottle now filled with hot sauce and duck taped shut to sell to someone that likes hot sauce.

After we drank the coconut water, I took it back to the island man and he cut it open and we ate the meat out of it!  Again, I loved this!  Real life right here friends!!!!!

Our next stop was driving down the winding roads and to a waterfall!  I never saw a big waterfall in real life and this was amazing!  I took Mike that of course we were getting in the cold water and standing underneath it.  Not everyone did, we but did!!!!!

The falls were forceful and our town guide hollered out, "Kiss the lady!" as he snapped these photos!!!!!

Again, we drove off to the next location.  This time it was lunch time at a local native home!  We tried almost every food offered to us!  The juice was amazing!  The foods were excellent!  The almost dried apples and ginger combination was good.  This is their dessert.

The house was surrounded by tons of banana trees, coconut trees and plants!  The host also cut open some coconuts for others to try!  This was so cool to see their hospitality and home!

Next up .... Sugar Beach!  This was a very pretty beach!  Much better than what we had in the bay!  The boat ride there was again great and the waters were warm, clear and fish swimming all around!  Mike and I swam out to a large round tube and layer on our bellies as we watched fish swim under us!  After an hour of luxury and sunshine and sand in our toes, we grabbed a Pina coloda from the boat man and took off for our next destination!

The Piton mountains are huge and an attraction or tourist!  There were now behind us as we traveled back to our resort!

We loved this outing so much!  We got to see so much, taste amazing foods, drink good drinks, witness a volcano and waterfall and sandy beaches!  This was paradise!!!!!

Dinner at the Meraki was not our favorite!  Mike had some coconut milk soup and the egg rolls were really good but my dish of prawns were way too spicy!

After good dessert, we walked back through our resort while hearing music, tree frogs chirping in the dark and boats lit up at night on the bay!!!!!

Our last day of sunshine and a rain shower showed off a beautiful rainbow to begin the day of traveling back home!

We had breakfast one last time at our favorite spot at Hurricane Cove!  This waitress as so sweet and served us well!

Leaving this resort of pools, good food, fun music and lots of sunshine was now a memory!  It was time to get back to the kids and real life in the states!

Another ride on the rollercoaster roads, airports, lines, flights and even a random check with me having to clean out my bag and then rush off to catch our flight home was the way back home.

We were happy to not have any complications because the flights just a day before were canceled from an airport strike.  Today, things were rolling fast and we got onboard for our first flight of the day!

Layover in NC.  Airport foods.  Tired eyes and another flight got us back to Philie by midnight.

Uber brought us home and walking on the icy driveway and coming back home is always good.  Home is where we belong most days!  Home is where the kids are!  Home is where we get our digestive system back to working well!  Home is the place of good memories and as we gave a kiss of Austin' check before going to sleep that early morning, we gave thanks to God for protecting us as we traveled!

This was such a fun anniversary trip and cheers to it now being February and here's to many, many good years spent together BABE!!!!!

I love you!
