Exploring San Pedro, Belize!

We stayed at the beautiful resort Coco Beach but another very fun part of visiting Belize is touring the towns in San Pedro!  Everyone drives golf carts for transportation!  We rented two four seater carts for the week and all piled on and followed each other around town!  It's been six years since we were here but so much is still the same!  We wanted to take the kids to Rum and Bean Coffee shop, so after a fry jack breakfast, we drove the extra miles to Montego Bay Resort to grab drinks!

We were so happy to place our orders!

The coffee shop smelled amazing and they had Valentine decorations everywhere!  The baristas were so surprised that we drove so far to come to their coffee shop.  It's about a 30 minute golf cart ride but of course we were just loving it!  I ordered a Ginger drink and IT WAS FULL OF GINGER!  So strong!  I love ginger but this was really, really strong!  They added more lime juice and honey and I sipped on this drink for a few days!  ğŸ¤£ Drinking it fast was not happening!

Going to our favorite Neri's for breakfast was a very big highlight!  Again, we would all hop on the golf carts and head into town!  This was about a twenty minute ride through the streets where we would pass the hardware store, the school, tons of little shops, fruit stands and see how life is on this island!
Austin does not like eggs, so we grabbed him a waffle on the way to Neri's one morning!  Everyone loved the juice at Neri's!  Watermelon and lime juice were our favorites!  For $2.50, we would bring the juice along back for a fun drink later that afternoon!

We had the best amazing food at our resort too!
Fish tacos, nachos, shrimp, so many drink options and the kids loved the fruit punch!

Mike and I took a walk down the beach one morning and walked out the pier.  I had my sunglasses on top of my head and when I sat down on a bench on the pier, I tilted my head back towards the sun.  My sunglasses fell into the water right behind me.  Mike said, "Let's go back for Austin's goggles and I'll find your sunglasses."  OK ... these are cheap glasses.  Nothing special but sunglasses on sunny island is kinda a nice accessory!  We grabbed the goggles and went back.  Mike did actually find them but his toe must have punched out my one lens.  We laughed and there's no way we were gonna find that!  The water is clear on the island but along the pier is was mucky.  Boats coming in and out.  Seaweed.  Water coming into shore, etc.  I did wear my sunglasses for awhile because it still helped with the sun but it looked too funny.  Our guide on the lobster excursion said, "Well, Momma .... what happened to your glasses?"  Calling all mom's "momma" is common language on the island!

THE TRUCK STOP .... this is a tourist attraction for sure on the island!!!!  There are train cars transformed into small restaurants.  One serves the best, amazing pizza!  Another serves Asian food.  Another tacos.  Another ice cream and of course there's a bar serving up drinks.  Rum is popular here.  We went for the bottle coke and juices!

There was always live music there!  A ping pong table, corn hole and a pool was in the back part.  We mostly went for the food and music and loved it here!  I think we had dinner here three nights!

On our way back from Rum and Bean, we searched for Maria's fruit stand.  She's an older native lady that always gave Austin little bananas for free the last time we were there!  Six year later, her stand is still there!  However, we just missed her being there.  She went to get her grandchildren at school so we didn't meet her this time.  The man in charge of the stand had us try his salsa and handed us a large container to take for free.  Mike bought a gallon of the watermelon juice which was not as tasty as Neri's.  Plantain chips, salsa, juices ... it's everywhere on the island.

This pier was off of our resort!  It's so pretty!  We walked the seashore and there was a big pile of large shells along the way!

We got to celebrate Valentine's Day and Jeremiah's birthday on the island!

This is Gunnar's first Valentines!  Zayla had a card and puppy stuffy she gave me to give to Gunnar.  So cute!  I gave him an outfit!  He is our very special Valentine!

All the golf carts are lined up at the resort!  You are assigned a certain cart when you rent them.

I wish we could have palm trees in the North!

San Pedro is full of tropical colors but we noticed all the reds and pinks on this day!

Just down from the resort was a coffee shop, a wood crafters store and souvenirs.

Two guys were out all day long carved huge pieces of wood into iguanas and octopus and many other sculptures!

We crossed a bridge going into town and back out again every day!

My Valentine!

Of course the guys were all into watching any construction happening on the island.  There was a lot of building being built and they wanted to tour a hardware store.

We passed so many fruit stand while driving through town.  We found a favorite that had delicious passion fruit.  Hadassah ate a lot of passions and mangos on the island!  We grabbed some bananas and peanut butter.  Matt and Daisy got fruits, peanut butter, Nutella and bread.  We didn't have snacks back in our rooms but fruit was good!

I loved seeing Real Life on the island!  It's by far one of my favorite things to see!  Everyone tending house, hanging out laundry, walking to school, selling produce, cooking up tacos along the street and just life!  These big lips made me smile on Valentine's day!

We went to the market for some bracelets to take along home.

Right next to the market is a taco factory where they make tons of corn tortillas!  You just peek your head inside and it's amazing with an open flame cooker and machine pressed out tortillas and this lady was flipping each corn tortilla by hand.  It smelled like roasted corn here!  So neat!

Cracked me up to see a snowman at the market!

Everyone packed one carry on suitcase to take along.  No check ins.  No washer and dryer.  I hand washed a few things and dried them on the porch!  Mike bought me this runner for Valentine's from a local lady selling things right along the shore line!  It's so pretty!

I just love it here!  Baby did so good!  He loved the water and was given by an older grandma a baby seat to use.  She said they used it years ago for their grand babies and Hadassah could use it for Gunnar.  He loved it!  Just floated in the pool water loving all the attention!

Austin was a champ!  He had a full backpack with all his things in it!  He helped with whatever he could!  He loved the food minus the eggs in the breakfast burritos.  Fish tacos pool side was his favorite!

Jeremiah has a birthday on Valentine's Day and Hadassah wanted to make it special for him.  They made reservations at the restaurant at our resort and had amazing food!  Gunnar went with the rest of us out to Crocs ... a local restaurant up three stories high and off of the water.  There is a huge crocodile that lives there and we saw it in the water!

My forever Valentine!!!!!

Out to town we went!

This was our resort driveway!  Can't get better than this can you????  Just so pretty!

Gunnar is with us for evening!  Love him so much!

Happy Valentine's Day!
