May is here!!!!!

My favorite month is here!!!!  May is packed full of fun events!  It's time to start eating those fresh fruits and veggies from the garden!  The kids are busy finishing up school with field trips, track and field day, awards, graduation and those end of school events!  We have a wedding on Saturday to attend and I can't wait for it!

Found me some asparagus and rhubarb!

Oh you know ... gotta keep watering those tender plants so they grow!!!!  She's the best!

Mixed up the first batch of rhubarb crisp and took it along to my parents for a mulching night!

I'm convinced the last minute plans always work the best!  LaVern texted asking if it suits to go mulch at my parents and it suited everyone!  That same night!  He ordered pizza and we added dessert, watermelon, meadow tea and veggies!

What a stud ... my husband was a great help!  One way to keep Zane safe and out of the skid loaders way was to back him.  Brother John helped this way.

We ended the night with s'mores!

I asked dad if we could tour his property next door.  They bought the property and are fixing it up.  We grabbed some fresh lilacs too!!!!

I love this man!!!!  Even though we are in the oldest clothes we own, I love this photo!!!!!!

Mom's flower beds look great now and I have a beautiful bouquet of lilacs in my kitchen!

Potting flowers!

Well, the other day when we had sisters day, I bought me lots of pretty flowers and now they go into pots!

I found these two cactus plants and LOVE THEM!!!!  I usually go with the red angel wing bagonia flowers and this year I paired them with the banana leaf palms for the front porch!

Colies are always added to my pots!  I love them in the summer and fall time!

I've been waiting for three years now to get myself some of these plants!  My friend Ruthie adds these to her pots every summer and I love it!  Groffs is the only place I found them and so I finially went there to buy some!  I got the same kind of plant in two different colors!  I can't wait to watch them grow!

And here's my garden update.

Tomatoes are planted.  This year I did an Early Girl, Roma and Sweet Pea tomato.

We have the zucchini and egg plant planted beside the celery and cabbage.

Broccoli and kohlrabi are beside lettuce plants and peppers and Florence fennel seeds.

The sugar peas are through the ground and the wire is up to help them lean and grow!  Carrots and beets are through the dirt here too!

Sugar baby watermelon.

The strawberry plants are blooming.

Lots of lettuce is growing with the radishes and kale.  The herb box is filling out!

I absolutely love this space!

Spring mini's in the orchard!

Spring is here and we are loving the blooms and all the pretty trees!  The kids and I drove off to the local orchard again and snapped a few photos!  I love these kids so much!

Ashlyn is now eleven and she's growing up!  She likes school but can't wait for summer vacation to begin!  She still loves strawberries and watermelon and all things cucumbers!  She eats salad any time of the day!  She's such a big helper!  Gardening is fun to her!  She loves to plant seeds and harvest foods!  Austin is one of her best friends and they are going to have such a great summer together!

We love you Ashlyn Marie!

This Little Miss Zayla was at our house when we decided to quick go take some pictures!  Of course we took some of her then too!  Zayla is so sweet and one of her favorite people is Ashlyn!  From so little, up until even now, if Ashlyn is around, she wants to be with her!  Ashlyn loves her just as much!  It's so cute to see them be such good friends even though there's years between them!  They will always be good friends and cousins!

And this Little Man is growing tall!  He's almost finished with first grade and even though the beginning was tears and tough hugs in the morning, he is finishing this school term strong!  He can read!  He knows how to add and subtract!  He loves sports and is playing in a baseball league for the first this spring!  He loves his Patrick Mahomes haircut that Joes Barber is giving him lately!  Austin is so cute and can't wait to swim!

Thank you Spring for showing up and giving us so much beauty!

Sisters Day!

Sisters Day is a day when my mom and sisters get together for food and some kind of activity!  Yesterday, was that day once again and I love these kinds of days!

Jody picked me up soon after the kids went to school and we went to Millwood Nursery.  I've been here numerous times already this spring and it's my favorite for 2022 so far!  It's small and nothing 'outstanding' like some other greenhouses around me but I love it!  It has the best prices, healthy plants and trees and garden vegetables and I'm so happy to give them my buisness this year!  Jody wanted to buy a red bud tree and did!  I was gonna wait to grab my tender garden plants until next week because the weather the next few days are gonna be on the chilly side but I decided to buy them!  I was tickled to find two cactus plants that I knew the Littles would love!  I bought dragon wing begonias that I will plant for my front porch pots!  I grabbed some tomato plants, zucchini, watermelon and peppers.  I can't wait to plant these and harvest the fruits!

Then Jody and I met mom and the other ladies at The Houston Cafe for breakfast!  I love their breakfast food!!!!  It's so delicious and so pretty and just so tasty!

We decided to go to some greenhouses together!  We started at Groffs Nursery.  I wasn't at this one for many years and I couldn't wait to find some plants that my friend Ruthie always buys here!  I've asked around at other greenhouses but apparently its a rare find and only Groffs sell them???  I was happy to buy some of these!

Then we drove to Hilltop Nursery.  This is a gorgeous greenhouse that I found by accident last Spring.  I thought I was going to Hillside Nursery which isn't real far apart but when I followed my GPS, I arrived here.  I was not disappointed and couldn't wait to take my mom and sisters to it!  They have cotton plants and many other really cool plants here!  It's beautiful!

I bought this basil that smells like black licorice!!!!  I can't wait to taste it and it smells SO GOOD!!!!!

One more greenhouse and then it was time to pick up the school children.  Hillside Nursery is also a really nice place to buy plants!  I love the herbs and all the smells at these places!

Days out like this go way too fast and are fun!  I wish I would remember to grab a group picture because family is special!  Where to next ladies???
