Ashlyn said these words this morning after her very first gymnastics class!!! Ever since I mentioned signing up somewhere for gymnastics, she's been over the top excited!!! I like to take some time and focus on her skills during the summer months when the other school sports are not in session. Last year, Ashlyn joined Sophia in doing some ballet classes. She really liked that and enjoyed it a lot but this whole gymnastics thing has taken her to a much higher excitement level!!! She was up during the night last night from excitement. This morning at 7 AM, she woke up, got dressed and came out to the kitchen saying, "I'm ready to go Mom!" Her first class didn't start until 9 AM, so she laid on the chair for awhile and then ate some oatmeal, brushed her teeth and we were off!!! She also kept reminding Mike about this exciting day and so he popped in to watch her a bit!!! She totally melted when she saw her dad there cheering her on!!!
We walked into the building and she was nervous and excited!!! I got her signed in and paid my dues and then she went with a small group of other children to do her first lesson.
They started with warm ups.
Handstands.
Back arches.
Then they moved on to a long trampoline and then ended with a cartwheel.
Cartwheel practises. Let me just say that Ashlyn does practice doing cartwheels here at home on her own practicing time but she was a star this morning!!! She looked so natural and good at it!!!
Then they moved to another mat where they gently flipped backwards with the help of one of the instructors.
And she said this one was her favorite! She started on the small yellow mat and jumped on a small bouncy mat and then flipped onto another mat. She was so good at it!!!
Somersaults.
This was the long trampoline again and this time they wanted her to cartwheel at the end and finish with her arms in the air!
This is her all finished with her first lesson. Smiles and sweaty and so, so happy!!!
