This time it was football in LA! Our annual football weekend with John and Kathy was again so fun! Mike and John get the dates together and Kathy is our navigator and I look up some attractions in the city we are heading to and we take off!
I made reservations at Hotel June in LA. It was a really nice place to rest our tired heads each night after touring the city! I loved the palm tree vibes and the coast showed us tropical plants and jasmine!
I smelled it immediately! There was jasmine planted right outside the hotel doors and it smelled so good!
We boarded early Friday morning and flew directly to LA. Mike grabbed a See's Candy at the airport and we hopped the bus for our commute to Uber.
One thing for sure is that we always eat so well! The first place we sat and ate at was just up from the hotel and we walked here and it was an authentic Mexican restaurant that was really delicious!
After some food, we went to the SoFi Stadium to take a stadium tour. We don't do this at every football stadium we visit but it is fun to do!
We got to go right into the locker room.
And it's not always the view of palm trees outside the stadium! We've been to some really cold stadiums but I prefer this!!!!
Dinner at the hotel restaurant was delicious and we were ready for a night of rest. Having a three hour time difference and a day of travels makes one tired!
The next morning we found a nice breakfast dinner and then we off to tour the city! Uber dropped us off and the driver said, "Hey, there's a popular farmers market just up the street. You might like to see it!" And boy did we ever like to see it!!!!! I could have spent an hour in this place but we strolled the isles and I walked out with a fennel to munch on, a juice shot bottle for my digestive system and photos to remember this neat market!
The display throughout the entire market was so pretty!
Most of the foods were in glass jars! I would love to try this!
Then we walked the streets and saw lots of creative sights!
We walked to Venice Beach and laughed at some of the sunglasses options. This is the first I traveled with reading glasses. My eyes are starting to tell me that I'm over 40 now but when I went to put on my sunglasses, there were not sunglasses in my case but reading glasses. So where are my sunglasses????
We didn't walk around the bottom part of the beach area because it just felt so dark! There were tourist and locals all around but the music and activities going on were no good! Kathy stopped to say hi to a local lady that made homemade churros. The colors we seen were creative!
The main reason we went to the beach was to rent bikes and ride the coast.
We biked on this path to Santa Monica which is a boardwalk attraction.
This house stood out! Just beautiful! We grabbed some lunch on the beach on our bike ride back.
When we got back to our bike rental place, Kathy was not feeling well and ended up sick and throwing up in the trash can along the beach. What did she eat that made her not well? We felt so bad for her! They decided to go back to the hotel instead of traveling an hour up to see the Hollywood sign, etc in LA. Mike and I decided to walk and grab a coffee and stroll along the Venice canals. As soon as Kathy was not our navigator, Mike and I had to find our way around. We are not good at navigation but we finally got a coffee and Urbered back to the hotel.
I tried my first Rosemary Latte. It was delicious!
Kathy was still not well for a dinner together, so Mike and I walked up to a cute Italian restaurant for some pizza!
The next morning, Kathy was feeling better but now weak because of so much throwing up. John, Mike and I went to a breakfast diner that our waitress recommended! It was so yummy!
We walked a good way to grab the popular donuts in town.
Kathy joined us for game time and we were happy to have her feeling better! As we entered the stadium, we were all handed one of these hand towels and I think I mentioned to Mike that he can use this for his handkerchief over allergy season! Whatever was said, sure gave us a laugh!
We love the Chiefs and this time they were playing the Chargers! One thing I don't love are the chains that the Kansas Chiefs promote but Mike grabbed one as a souvenir for Austin. Guess who ended up wearing it???
We had great seats and we were happy to have a win at the game!!!!
I always love to see some players pray before and after the game!
On our way out, we bought lemonade and cookies from a young girl who was selling it. Her mom was across the street also selling game gear things. It's neat to see young people make some money on a side job like this. She said she baked the cookies herself and made the lemonade!
And this is our luck .... because we Ubered our way through town, we had to walk out of the stadium area and down a few blocks to be able to get the Uber though. Many streets are closed because of all the traffic coming and going from the stadium. We finally decided to stop and wait for Uber and soon we heard police sirens and two motorcycles came roaring down a street. We laughed and watched as the Kansas City Chiefs players rode in their buses, leaving the stadium, right in front of us! We waved to Andy Reed and his wife and they waved back! Of course, this was the cherry on top as we left the stadium area!
We grabbed a nice dinner at the marina before heading back home tomorrow morning!
We left early and flew back home to the place where we belong! We couldn't wait to see the kids again and be back home!
These getaways take a lot of planning, arrangements and I know that we couldn't do it without the help of family who watch our children and dog while we are away! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
