We had three beautiful days on the beach with our family! Rehoboth Beach brings back a ton of memories for me. We used to go there when I was a kid. Now its fun to take my own children there!
We stayed at Avenue Inn and it did not disappoint us! We all slept in one motel room for two nights. The space was tight when we were all coming back from the sandy beach to shower but we really didn't spend that much time in the room anyway. It was good enough.
This was the first beach trip Austin took. He did good on the beach and loved the ocean!!!
Hadassah and Matthew had a blast!!! They loved the whole vacation! They just dove through the waves and got tons of vitamin D from the sun. Actually, Matthew got too much! He is still taking antibiotics for Lynne's and it does say that there is an increase case of getting sunburn. I knew this and did apply sunscreen on him, but we should have put more on! By the third day on the beach, he was miserable. He sat on the beach chair with a towel over his face and under the umbrella. We only stayed out on the beach a little after lunch on day three, for his sake.
The kids went to the boardwalk and bought themselves a raft. They came running through the sand with excitement and could not wait to try it out! They LOVED it!!! Mike and I even had a chance to enjoy it!!! :)
The first day at the beach, I decided to stay back at the motel room to give Austin his nap before hitting the hot sun and sandy beach. Mike and the kids took the golf cart ride out to the beach awhile and got two umbrellas set up and chairs in place. I finally woke Austin after a 3 1/2 hour nap! I know, really??? I love when he takes good, long naps but why today when we want to go the beach? I decided to be OK with it because we had three full days to enjoy it!!! And plus, a good nap = a happy baby!!!
When him and I got on the beach, he liked it. It wasn't until day three that he stuck his tongue right in the sand. Three times in a row. He didn't like the taste. He didn't like how it felt either. I think every beach baby experiences this same moment.
He got to enjoy extra daddy time on vacation. Austin goes nuts when he sees Mike and it's been many of times that Mike barely gets to eat supper before going outside with him. Austin knows that Mike will give him a moped ride. Or push him on the swing. Or mow the yard on the mower. It's so demanding but we love that he loves his daddy!
This little miss loved the ocean too!!! We took many, many family vacations to Florida but we have not been there for three years now. Ashlyn wouldn't remember any of it. So this ocean experience was fun for her! She collected as many sea shells as she could! She loved the water!
We borrowed Matt and Lena's two seater and that's how we walked the boardwalk. This would work perfectly if the kids would stay in there! :)
On day two and three we gave Austin his nap on the beach so that I could enjoy some sunshine too!!! An hour to sit and chill out while hearing the ocean waves splash in and the kids swimming, is worth all the efforts of getting here!!! If I'm honest, the sand with small children does get annoying to me but some day they will all be able to walk in the sand alone. To brush off the sand from their feet all alone. And not to eat the sand would be nice! I'm gonna feel so spoiled when the day comes for me to take only my towel and chair to the beach! :)))
I love my family!
She wore a different swimsuit on day two. Those white little tan lines are now sun kissed. :)
We all moved our chairs out to the water on afternoon!!!
Gotta make sandcastles!!!!
And then wreck them. :)
Ashlyn was taught how to throw Frisbee at the beach! She did pretty good! But mostly, she enjoyed her time with her dad!!!
Love this!!!
Nap time on the beach for our little man!
On the way home, the two little ones took naps and Mike and I just laughed at how much work it actually took to make a vacation enjoyable with four kids!!! We didn't come home really rested but we did have tons of fresh memories and we got to see the ocean once again!!!
