With all the christmas festivities all around us, Mom and Dad decided to make a flying trip to Florida to set up the house they bought from Mommy D. There was water damage from the hurricanes earlier in the fall and the house had to be gutted out. Mom and Dad remodeled the home and it's now ready for furniture and housing things before renters come and enjoy this beautiful home!!!!
Mom, Jody and I flew down to Sarasota Friday afternoon and landed safe and sound. A rental mini van was rented to us and we went to Der Dutchman to eat supper and got to work! We unpacked the boxes that held plates, cups and pots and pans. We had to use the bathroom sink for water because the plumbing still needing done in the new kitchen sink. Mom and Jody hung towels over the windows for temporary curtains because they just couldn't work in the dark without some kind of covering. The kitchen was looking good by the time we went to bed. With no beds or furniture there yet, I laid some blankets on the bedroom floor and slept on the hard tile. I tossed a few times during the night and even after getting to bed at 1 AM, my body wasn't impressed at my sleeping conditions. There was one mattress that mom slept on and Jody was smart and piled some cushions on top of each other to make a soft "bed" for her. I was too tired to care and thought I would sleep OK for one night. I woke up with a sore hip because of the hard tile floor but by 6:30 that next morning, my Dad and two of my brothers pulled into the driveway with a load of furniture, housing goods, decorations and all the fun things of setting up house!!!!! They drove through the night and hauled down a trailer loaded with couches, beds, furniture, etc.
The men worked hard and we fixed up one thing at a time!
