Making Memories in May ~

This has been another busy May week.  One that went really fast and was packed full of fun, spring events!  Take a look ...

We started the week with another little league game for Matthew.  What a game!!!  I'm telling you, these are such fun to watch!  The Rookies started off the cold night with being down 0-7 in the first inning.  They gained more and more fun each inning, finishing the game at a tie of 17-17!!!  It was exciting!  Us moms were cheering and loving all the great hits!  These young boys are good!  :)  Matthew just thought to finish off the night, he had to eat another cheeseburger!  This is by far one of his favorite foods.

Then I had the day out with my sisters and mom on Wednesday.  They wanted to take me out for my birthday and I choose to eat lunch at Bonefish Grill.  The only problem was that when we arrived, Bonefish opens at 4 PM and does not serve lunch.  We went with the second best option and ate at Olive Garden.  It was a tasty lunch, as expected!  Thanks ladies for the treat and the fun time hanging out together shopping and eating lunch!  It's always way fun when we get together!

I was a bit rushed to leave the restaurant and go to school to pick up the kids because I made a doctors appointment for Matthew.  He's been complaining the past few days of belly ache.  It comes and goes in spurts.  I've been trying to pay more attention of what he's been eating and causing the belly ache.  Sometimes it hurts after drinking and eating.  Well, when I picked him up at school, he said that his belly felt good all day and it wasn't hurting anymore.  We've been praying that his stomach ache goes away and even that morning before school, Hadassah laid hands on him and prayed.  Now, I wasn't sure what to do.  That morning I was certain that we should finally get him checked by a doctor but now I felt like a fool (and one of little faith) if I take a well feeling child to get checked.  I canceled the appointment.  He's been feeling better and we praise God for that!  Join us in prayer that the stomach aches will stay away and that Matthew's belly is healed!

Thursday was such a busy day!  Track and Field for Hadassah and Matthew!!!  This is a day that both of them have been looking so forwards to and Ashlyn and I were not going to miss it!  Mike came at lunch and joined us for some hours of track too!  I took so many pictures!

The morning events had to be done in the gym because of passing showers!  We were able to eat lunch outdoors and the tempts went to warm and humid.  80 degrees.  The afternoon was packed full with running events, soft ball/basketball throws, etc..

Here are the team relay races.  Hadassah was on the RED team and Matthew on the GREEN team.

Tossing bean bags into a trash can ...

Going through a hula hoop while holding hands ...
She was a team trooper!!!  She cheered and screamed loud!  The noise level was crazy in the gym!!!
I love this picture!  She's all for the gold!!!  Try hard and try your best.  It's a good motto!!!
Matthew didn't get so fired up but still did great for his team!
Broomball ...
Dribble or kick a ball ...
 Circle Relay ...
 Scooter Races ...
Ashlyn was into the cheering too!

We were able to move outdoors for the track events at lunch time.  The weather was warm and tough for the long runs but the kids did great!  Really!!!

Zach and Matthew are best buds in school!  Matthew will miss this young man so much next year.  Zach is moving to Colorado to help do mission work with his family.  Many, many blessings to you guys!!!
After running the 50 Meter Race ...     Mike, Ashlyn, Lena and Hunter were all there to cheer them on!!!  Thanks for coming!
 Matthew's second grade class boys!
Softball throw!  One throw was 66 feet!

This was the intense run!!!  Hadassah signed up to do the 1600 Meter (which is one mile)!  She's a great runner and often went with Mike already.  She was prepared for this run but with it being soon after lunch and mentally knowing that she has to run around the track eight times was a lot to ponder.  She's like me and runs better with one destination in mind and really does not like running in circles or back tracking.  Here she's listening with Laurie at the instructions.  And ... off she goes!
It was so warm but she did great!!!  (Oops ... picture out of order here but she's ready for take off.)
Here Mike is talking to her for her next run.  100 Meter.
A fifth grade girls class photo ...
Lena brought two big dill pickles along for the kids.  Guess who wanted some too???
Matthew ran in the 100, 200 & 400 Meter races!  Amazing endurance!  He's a great runner.  Mike asked him if he got tired?  His response, "Ahh ... I just ran."  :)))
Running and then smiling at his daddy after his good run!
Water breaks were necessary!  Softball throws ...
 More running ...

To finish off the hard running day and hot weather, everyone was treated to Popsicles!  What a great treat!

You would think that after running, the kids would be tired.  They were a little but that night they were both in the back yard timing themselves and running again!  I got the house cleaned and by 7:30, I was ready to relax on the back porch!

I sat down on the back porch with some decaf coffee and listened to the working farmers in the fields.  They were mowing and racking and bailing hay.  We are surrounded by fields and THAT is one reason why we absolutely love the area we live in!  Everything is so fresh and green outside!  Our garden is at its best!  However, the birds are making a mess on the driveway and on my windows with all their droppings but they are enjoying all the pines to rest and sing in too!  We have a mother robin bird that faithfully sits in the front tree on her nest!

It's Spring time and it's one of my favorite seasons!  We are enjoying each day the Lord gave to us at it's fullest!  Why just yesterday, after picking up the kids at school, we went straight to Rita's for some soft serve custard.  I watched Hadassah, Matthew and Ashlyn as they licked their ice cream and like all children do, they loved it!  I love moments like these!  Then the moment lasted too short and we were suddenly putting lotion of Hadassah's finger, trying to pry it from the table.  It got stuck in the table holes.  (There were small holes on the top of the table and she was sticking her fingers through them.  Her figure got stuck and for just a little while she was in pain trying to pry it loose.)

Enjoy your weekend!!!  Blessings!

Spring time goodies ...

Oh goodness, the goodness of the Lord is upon us once again!  I picked out some fresh radishes on Saturday from the garden and I was delighted to see how they looked!  They were perfect size and bright red!  After you cut off both ends and wash them real good they are ready to eat!  They taste so delicious and crisp in salad, on a slice of bread with mayo and cheese and salt, and if you want that 'hot' quick bite ... just pop one in your mouth as it is!

Radishes have been a vegetable that we have grown in our garden for a few years now but I think these are the best yet.  Maybe it's because we had such a cold spring and they thrive in the cooler tempts!?.

We are also blessed with lots of fresh spinach, cut lettuce and meadow tea!  The butter crunch lettuce is growing faster than we need it too.  I think our supper meals will include a fresh salad each evening this week!!!  The strawberries have blooms on and it will be time to pick fresh berries soon!  We can't wait for some warm short cake and berries!

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Spring is a time for good fishing too.  Matthew goes any chance he gets!  Especially, if he's invited by his Uncle Matt and knows that Mike is going along too!  These guys are a pair.  Matt and Mike know how to fish and fish well!  Matthew is learning but does well every time!

Saturday morning, Mike and Matthew woke up early and joined Matt and Jayden at the fishing hole.  There was a fishing derby for 15 years and under.  The limit was to catch five fish per fisherman.  Mike said that only a few seconds after Matthews first cast, he had a bite.  (Telling you, he's good.  There were kids that were there for hours and didn't get one bite.  I am hearing that it has a lot to do with the bait and hook?.!)

Matthew fished till after lunch and caught four.  Jayden caught three.  They were all good sized fish.  We had a delicious supper last night as we ate them!  Thanks Matthew for bringing more good fish to our supper table!  And thanks to Lena for letting us use their fryer since Matthew says Lena makes the best fried fish!  :)

(Don't you just love when your son goes fishing in his pj's and boots?
Straight out of bed to the fishing hole.  What gets better than that?  :)  )
It was a chilly, wet morning but these two didn't mind a bit.  They love fishing!
 Proud of his catches!
 Waiting for another bite!!!

We are enjoying Spring time here!  The mulch pile is down to nothing after last night.  Mike finished off the last bit of it last night with the tractor and dumped me some more piles that I need to spread out today.  I will happy to not have to cover up my 'not so frost friendly plants' anymore.  The last two nights I went out and covered up my plants that can't handle frost.  I think according to the weather forecast, things are to be warming up this week yet!  We like that thought!

Have a blessed Tuesday!  It will consist of more outside work for me.  Blessings ...

A VERY special day!!!

The whole weekend was relaxing and fun!  It was special!  It was Mother's Day & my 32 Birthday yesterday!!!  A double wamy on one day!

It started out with a wonderful, relaxing spa done on Saturday by Hadassah!  She made a card and we scheduled my spa foot soak, massage, lotions, and pedicure for after our morning of yard saling together!  We had such a great time doing both!  As she treated my feet, we relaxed with "Spa Music" plaing softly in the background.  I have since been playing this kind of music from 'youtube'.  It's peaceful.  Soft. And it can make you sleepy.  :)  She also decorated our bedroom with pictures and flowers!

She had this note in the bathroom with all her nail polish options.
The note on our bedroom door!

Thanks Hadassah for loving me and for the wonderful spa treatment!  You are so special and I love it that we are becoming more like friends than just a mom and small girl relationship!  You are growing up into a young lady so fast!  Thanks for the gifts and for making my special day special!!! ~ Mom

Sunday morning was a delight too!  My day started out perfect!  I woke up with Mike right beside me.  (And yes that is a gift!  I missed him so much while he was in Florida all last week!)  We could hear the birds chirping right outside our bedroom windows.  He said, "Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday!"  He gave me a ridiculous card that we laughed and laughed about.  He had a small hand written paper tucked inside with a gift.  He served me coffee in bed!  So sweet!  The dozen roses he gave me last week are still gorgeous!!!  (He couldn't remember the Spa's name in town.  :)  Don't worry ... I know where it is!)

The kids woke up and greeted me with such love and enthusiasm too!  Mike purchased another card that they all signed and they gave that to me with hugs and kisses!  This card is SUPER AWESOME!  It says just the right words and when you open it, it plays a tune of 'when a hero goes flying into the air and rescues something'!  You know the tune I mean?  Totally cool!!!  Thanks guys, I love it!!!  Whenever I need that 'mothering boost', I will just open up this card!  It will sure bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart!

Love the "real-life" in the card!  :)

Mike got everyone breakfast and did the dishes.  He's was on double duty with having a birthday and mothers day together.  :"  We went to church and all the ladies were given a flower to take along home.  Matthew picked out the right one and the perfect orange Dahlia is waiting to be planted.  The sermon was based from Acts and I was again blessed.  Mike on the other hand ... had Ashlyn all morning.  Let's just say that we hope sitting still in church and behaving will get better for this toddler!!!  :/

Matt and Lena were host family and they invited us over for lunch.  No need for me working or cooking today!!!  It was so yummy and thanks Lena!  Your food is always amazing!

It was past nap time till we finally got back home and settled in cozy clothes.  Ashlyn napped a three hour nap and Mike and I laid in bed with 'the spa music' playing softly as we napped too.  Hadassah and Matthew found other things to entertain them.  Something called electronics!  :/

Back to church for an evening service and then we stopped at Mike's parents on the way home.  He dropped off a flower planter for his mom that morning but they were not home and so we chatted and fussed a bit in the evening.

The day went so well and I KNOW, KNOW, KNOW that I am very blessed.  I want to not forget any special moments or words that Mike and the children blessed me with yesterday!

The weekend was such fun with all these events plus a fun Friday night being deep into two games of settlers with dad-in-laws.  Plus Saturday night, my whole family hanging out at LaVern's for fun and fellowship!

* A note to my mom ... I love you so much!  Thanks for all you taught me and for the gift you gave me yesterday!  You are so special to me and I thank you for all your help you give to me with canning, babysitting or just going to greenhouses together!  :)  I love those times together!  Thank you for the great example you show me in your life!  I love you! *

Thanks to all that wished me a Happy Birthday!  Turning 32 is just another year older and I feel not a bit older than the day before!  Or the year before!  Or maybe even 10 years before.???  I did mention the fact though that it is now sixteen years ago that I turned 16!  That's weird!  I know I did age and feel a tad bit different than all those years ago.  Still loving those memories of my sweet sixteen days!!!

Here is one of the sweetest cards Matthew ever made for me!  Just love it!!!  Thanks Matthew for it and for being my sweet boy!  As I read this card for the first time (and yes, I have read it often already), it almost brought tears to my eyes.  I love to see the things that you appreciate and really enjoyed reading the back of the card!  You are so special to me!!!  I love you! ~ Mom

Here's a gift from Hadassah.  Their class did a cookbook for us mother's!

From Matthew's Sunday School class ...

From Ashlyn's Sunday School class ... I love you too so much Ashlyn!  Your love for life.  Your small figure and adorable blue eyes are just down right too cute!  I love that we can communicate each day with more and more words adding to your vocabulary!  I love to hear you sing Jesus Loves Me and Kings Kid and God is Great, etc..  You make me smile every single day!!!  Thanks for your hand prints and flower you gave to me!  You are a gift from God!  ~ Mom

Hadassah's Sunday School class is preparing lunch for all the moms on Sunday!  Yet another thing to look forwards to by Hadassah!

 From Matthew's 2nd grade class ...
From my mom and dad!  Mike and I can not wait to go to Cheesecake Factory together!!!  Umm!

Also, my sister gave me a small green house made out of old windows.  I can't wait to place it in my flower bed and plant herbs inside and around it.  (Pictures of this will be coming up soon I am sure!)  Thanks!

I am telling you, I am so blessed!  All these flowers, cards and gifts are so not necessary but are very much appreciated!  Thanks again everyone!
