Trying to stay cool!!!

The tempts here in our town have been crazy HOT the past week!!!! 90 degrees and scorching hot called for lots of water ... to drink and to swim in!!! Lena and the boys went with us to the Club to swim and for fun, I practiced with Austin to swim! He’s a real fish in the water and went nuts with his puddle jumper off of him! He swam!!! Underwater for the most part and only short distances but swam! He would swim under water to me and then the the side of the pool. I’m nervous to let him go but he’s catching on well!!! Maybe by the end of the summer he will be swimming solo?!?!

Thursday we had a day with my mom and sisters! Mom treated us all to a day at French Creek! The idea was fun but the weather was not!!! We only swam for a little while before the storm clouds rolled in and chased us to our vehicles! We stopped at Rita’s on the way home but again went running for dry ground to eat our treats! The day was wet, fun and we laughed at the craziness of it all!!!!

Then the next day ...
Aunt Thelma offered their brand new on ground pool to my family on Friday! We were thrilled to swim on the hot, full sunshine day! I’m pretty sure it was the longest swimming day for the kids this summer yet!!! We even ate supper there and had the boys and daddy’s join in on the pool party!!! The sourdough pizzas were great!!! Thanks to Dari from The Daily Bread Company for the crust!!!

The summer weather has been hot but I’m so grateful for the rains we’ve been blessed with! Summer thunderstorms are nothing to mess with and run for cover when we see those storm clouds roll in but the rains it brings us such a blessing! We are still mowing the lawn and it’s been mostly green all summer so far! That’s a lot said because we’ve had high heat tempts all last week!!!

Saturday was another cooker of a day! We were all sweating bullets while washing off the vehicles and I suggested to go watch Toy Story 4 in the theater. Mike wasn’t into it but said the rest of us could go if we wanted too. Austin stayed home with mike and napped while Matthew, Ashlyn and I laughed and ate popcorn and had a good time! What a fun movie to watch!!!! It felt good to be out of the heat zone and into some funny movie scenes! We went back home and grabbed a veggie tray and we all headed to Mommy Lapps for a campfire and family time. Dad Lapp passed away two years ago and it’s good to remember Dads life! It was a hot sticky night but the kids played so well and we didn’t need the campfire for heat but to help scare away those pesky mosquitoes!!!

Our summer is flying by but we are making memories!!! It’s so wonderful to eat from the garden and by locally grown produce! Corn on the cob is so delicious!!! I’m off to get some sleep! Have a great week everyone!!!
