Last day of school is finally here!!!

Cheers for the last day of school to finally be here!!!

I think we were just as excited for summer vacation to begin as we were back in the fall for school to begin.  Ashlyn had a wonderful Kindergarten year.  Miss Peterson was a very loving teacher and we appreciated her very much!!!  Ashlyn has mastered writing her name in perfection!  She knows her address.  She participates in singing.  Tying shoes is fun now!!!  She memorized a bunch of bible verses in kindergarten!!!  Recognizing rhyming words and understanding the difference between upper and lower case letters is now easy.  Ashlyn can sound out simple words to read and recognizes and reads basic sight words.  Kindergarten was a great year for her!!!

As the kids waited for the bus to pull up, Austin was right beside them.  Austin loves watching for the bus and seeing the kids off to school was something he did most mornings but he will be happy to have them all at home again for the summer!!!

A quick hug ...

... And knuckles for the win!!!

Then the bus came and the kids were off.

Austin was left alone as he watched the bus pull away.

Then he turned around and came running up to the front porch where I was waving and watching the bus leave for one more time this school term.

School left out at 10:45 AM today.  Let the summer vacation begin!!!

Matthew had Mrs. Donaldson as his sixth grade homeroom teacher.  Many thanks to her for her teachings and class structure!  Entering Middle School was easy for Matthew and he too had a great year!!!

Ashlyn and Miss Peterson one last time together!  Ashlyn has mixed feelings about entering first grade because she's a little like her momma when it comes to changes.  Why switch things up if you like them just as they are!!!  :)))  Ashlyn is very proud though to have a number 1 written on her report card and will be excited to start first grade after summer!

And Hadassah is now finished with ninth grade.  How can this be???  When I was a sophomore, so many changes happened.  I turned 16.  I got my permit.  Then my license three weeks later.  I thought I had the world by it's tail and now I blinked and we have a beautiful daughter ready for 10th grade!  Wow!!!

Hadassah was brave with jumping into a brand new high school and did really well!!!  Her teacher were all terrific and really made school a fun place to learn and grow spiritually.  Yesterday, Mrs. Roberts told them that she is moving and will not be teaching next year.  Hadassah was so sad because she really likes Anna Roberts.  Here they are one last time together today.

And then Jess hoped in the picture too!!!  Cheers to another good year of school!

Now we can give a big shout out summer vacation!!!  Hadassah texted me earlier in the day and asked if we can go to the pool?.?  :)))  We are excited to have many warm days in the sun but today was a bit windy and it takes a bit of adjusting to having the kids all back at home.  Every day.  All day.  I won't lie and make it sound like it's all gravy because all the other years, it takes some patience and extra loving on my part to make the days be fun and relaxing.  I like my house in order and already this afternoon, papers are sprawled out all over the floor and counter.  Ashlyn's got a paint project going on in the kitchen because she was allowed to bring some paints home from school.  Hadassah is chilled on the couch eating popcorn after folding my laundry.  Matthew is cleaning out his back pack and he keeps going in and out to burn the extra school papers that he doesn't need anymore.

I'm going to try to keep the kids occupied and not bored this summer.  With a 15 and 12 year old, they need things to do.  Chores.  I told them that they need to start thinking about writing down on paper some goals for the summer.  Make some guidelines for themselves.  Like setting a limit on electronics.  Making sure they take time to read their Bibles.  Be willing to help me with house chores.  Read books.  Maybe even getting a few side jobs to earn some cash.

Summer time is my favorites!!!  Let's get the barbeque's started and campfires glowing!!!

Happy Summer!!!
