Another Wintry Mix ...

Yep, more snow fell all day today!  It gave us another 8 inches of white, packing, cold snow.  It also gave us another 'no school day'.  Sigh.  I know this weather is being a challenge for our school calendar, but it's nothing we can do about the weather and all this snow!  I'm still enjoying it but our two week trip to the sunny south is coming up and it's making me antsy!!!  I can't wait to feel some warm sunshine!!!

The kids slept in this morning.  The snowflakes just kept falling all day long!  Ryan and Tyler came for the afternoon and so that made the kids day!  They built a snowball fort, a snowman, and shoveled yet another pathway to the back door.  This snow was a packing, heavy snow making it perfect for a snowman!  They built their fort walls and fired snowballs at each other!  Ginger joined the fun too and kept coming inside with balls of snow hanging from her hair.  She sat on the couch beside Ashlyn once and Ashlyn kept saying that she's getting wet.  I went to take a look and here Ginger was still covered in these 'snow balls'.  Poor dog was trying to warm up beside Ashlyn.  I took Ginger in front of our small heater until most of the snow balls melted!

These kids played outside most of the afternoon!!!

Ashlyn joined the fun for a few minutes!!!

Matthew and Tyler built a snowball fort!

Rolling that heavy snow!

The cousins having a blast in the snow!!!

Ryan and Hadassah made their snowball fort!

Then they fired snowballs at each other!!!  What a blast!

We hosted a small Super Bowl Party here last night too.  We were so last minute with this.  I made a sandwich ring and had veggies and dip.  Marlene brought warm nacho dip and chips.  Suz made us desserts!  The night of fellowship was great but the game should have been more entertaining!  Then again ... every Super Bowl Party I ever attended was all about the gathering and people anyway!!!  :)  Thanks for coming guys!

Right before Dave's and Matt's showed up, Ashlyn was in the bathroom.  I had a candle burning by the sink (like I do often).  She went to hop up on the sink to reach for the soap and suddenly she let out a scream.  Both Mike and I were relaxing in the living room but after hearing a yell like this one, we were both up and in the bathroom quick!  Ashlyn's hair caught on fire when she leaned for the soap!!!  There was this terrible smell immediately!  Burning hair smells disgusting!!!  She of course cried!  She had ashes on the floor from her hair.  Some of her hair right in the front caught on fire and quickly singed it!  She's now got this small spot on her head of really short, burnt hair.  Her hair still stinks!  I was so thankful that she didn't get burned on her face or body.  I bathed her immediately and then she seemed fine again.  I hope this hair will grow back quick!!!  Thank Jesus for His protection!!!

Can't see the singed hair too much here.  I hope it grows back quickly!

Looking outside at all the fresh snow is still fun!  I am getting ready for Spring though!  The warmer tempts this past weekend reminded us that we do have an outdoor life during the other seasons!  When Mike came home on Friday after work, it was fun seeing Hadassah out shooting hoops and Matthew ripping around on his four wheeler!  Come on Spring!!!!!!!!!

For today ... it's more snow.  It's more inches of snow!  The tempts are a bit warmer and out of the single digits!  The air is still and it makes for a wonderful wintry mix!!!

Enjoy the beauty of winter!
