Construction Crew has arrived!

It's been an exciting week at the house!  We continue to go get the mail almost every day.  Ashlyn loves, loves to get the mail but more than that, she checks it every time to see if there is something in it for her.  This girl loves to get mail!!!  (Hint: surprise her and send her a note!  :)  )

The Smucker Brothers have arrived!!!  This is exciting!  Before this, it was the excavator working at the house.  The new foundations were made.  The walls were poured.  Now it's time for the construction work to begin!!!

The new garage being made.  It's a big three car garage and we are excited to have Mike's truck and the Yukon in the garage this winter!  :)

The new garage is going right up against the house.  The old garage will become our new living room!

So much lumber gets used!!!

On the other side of the house is the new master bed and bath.  And new basement underneath that.  Matthew came home last night after being there with Mike and said, "Mom, your walk in closet is huge!"  Mike said it's as big as Ashlyn's room!  What???  I am terrible at dimensions and so reading the measurements on the blue print don't mean much to me until I actually see it being framed out!  We should have plenty of space now!

We missed seeing the crane put up the rafters but it was still wonderful to see the guys work and put these in place!

Here's a view from the back.  The back yard is now just dirt.  So much for thinking I would have to keep up with yard work!  :)  The center is our new kitchen bump out!!!  I am so excited to have a large window by the kitchen sink!!!

Another picture of the master.

This week Mike ordered the windows.  This was a big decision because we want good quality but windows that open nice for cleaning!  He also ordered the bricks!  All the shingles are stacked at the house for when the roof gets built.

We've been living here in the basement now for a month.  It's fun to go over to the house and see the work and progress.  We have it really nice right here where we are living temporarily but we will be so happy to move back home!!!  Our goal is to be in by Christmas!!!

Austin just reached his 9 week mark!  He is smiling a lot more!!!  He even started to coo!  He loves to lay on the floor and watch his toys.  He does not like his car seat that much ... sad.  It makes all my quick road trips not so quiet.  :(

NINE Weeks ...

For example, yesterday, Matthew had an orthodontist appointment.  I put Austin in his car seat and off we went to pick Matthew up at school and head for New Holland.  Austin was fine until we got to school.  Then he started to cry.  Matthew hoped in and we turned the radio up loud.  We tried to drown out Austin's cry.  Sigh.  He cried until we got to the orthodontist.  We parked and I got his car seat out quickly.  He calmed down just a bit when he saw me.  Matthew and Ashlyn got out of the Yukon too but things went crazy from there!  Matthew told Ashlyn to hop up on his shoulders and he would give her a ride inside.  She was into that but when Matthew went to get back up on his feet, he lost balance.  I seen it all happen so fast and I just couldn't there fast enough to help!!!  Ashlyn went falling down hitting her head, face and knees on the hot black top.  Matthew had sore, scrapped hands from trying to stop him from falling too.  Oh boy!!!  Now I had Austin still upset in his car seat.  I had Ashlyn crying with her head bleeding and bruised.  I had Matthew blowing the palms of his hands and feeling so bad for Ashlyn.  I told him to go in awhile while we try to calm down.  However, it was so hot outside, in the ninety's, that I decided to just go inside and then try to calm the children.  We walked in and every one's eyes went right to us!!!  I can't say I blame them because we brought a site with us!!!  I set the car seat down on the floor and got Austin out so he stops crying.  Then I put my arm around Ashlyn to try to calm her.  Matthew felt so bad and was taken right to his chair to get a new wire on his braces.  Everyone at the orthodontist soon saw what happened and one of the ladies brought out a stuffed Curious George for Ashlyn hopping it would help her hurts.  By now, Austin was quiet and drinking his bottle.  Ashlyn was taken back for a band aid and they also gave her a bracelet and a ring!  To keep!  She was much better now!  :)  Matthew got finished in no time with his new wire and new purple rubber bands on his braces.  I thanked everyone for their help and out the door we went again!  Ashlyn now has a bruised head and check.  Her knees were just scraped a little.  Matthew's hands are fine but now has a sore mouth from his new wire.  This will be a trip we won't forget right away!  :/
