Dallas, TX!

We are back from a VERY fun weekend away from home!  However, it is good to be back home with the children!  (Thanks to our babysitters.  I'm not even sure the kids missed us?)  I gave out a loud hoot last night when the last of the laundry was finally folded and put back into the right drawers!  All the packing, unpacking, and catching up was well worth the efforts though!!!

Football is not my game.  Not at all.  When I watch any type of football, I watch because that's what you do at a football gathering.  I love Super Bowl Parties but for sure not because of the actual game.  The fellowship, food and fun is why I like the parties!  I just don't understand the game.  I tried so many times to 'get it'.  My cousin years ago tried explaining it to me.  Mike tried many times.  I think that until I go to more games or actually play it myself, I will continue to be confused.?.  :)

This trip to Dallas was all about spending time with Mike and those who went along.  Uncle John and Kathy & John and Damien went along.  We had so much fun!!!  I don't ever remember laughing so much on a trip!  There were times my belly or/and chest hurt from laughing so much.  Good times!!!  Refreshing!!!

We started out leaving the house early Friday morning.  Mom came to the house to stay with the kids and get them off to school!  Thanks Mom!!!  We headed for the airport after meeting with the others.  Our straight flight to Dallas went well!  We arrived mid morning.  That gave us the day in Dallas to meet with the owner and some employees of REEF Oil Company.  The guys are investors in the company and so being able to meet these people in person was a privilege.  Jeremy and his brother Jason took us all out for lunch.  Texas is know for their Tex Mex foods.  Good Mexican food!  We went to a restaurant that we liked so good that we went twice!!!  The food was so yummy and I loved the guacamole!  Kathy and I sat in on the meeting.  We were completely bored by the second hour but knew the rest of the weekend was going to be packed with fun and excitement.  We didn't mind a bit to sit in a meeting if it is what our hubbies really enjoy!!!  :)  After some site seeing, we were ready for our beds.

My delicious lunch!!!

Saturday, we toured the city of Dallas!!!  We first went to see the Rangers Stadium!  Really a nice building!!!  That would be fun going to when a game is being played!!!  Then we went to tour the Cowboy's stadium.  With my little knowing about any football, I found this extremely interesting.  Not sure why?  I guess maybe because it's a sport and to go walk through the locker rooms, walk on the field, and see the press room was WOW to me!!!  It was so neat to experience that!  After the stadium tour, we ate more food.  (We seemed to do this a lot!  Yum!)  Then we went on a trolley tour of the city.  In Dallas "everything is bigger in Texas".  That's what they say and it's true!  Big buildings.  Big food platters.  Big roads.  Huge highways!  Again, we really enjoyed this tour.  To see and be right where President Kennedy got shot was history in 'real life'.

This was in the city of Dallas.  On our trolley tour, we stopped to see bronze cows and cowboys.

Sunday, we were really hoping to go to church!  Tony Evans and Chuck Swindoll are both in Dallas but not real close to where we were staying.  When we looked at the game time, there was no way we could go to church and be in time for the game.  A lousy excuse because we really did want to go to church.  With paying $$$ for our game tickets, we didn't want to be late.  We had so many good talks and a whole lot was discussed about God and our Saviour!  We had our own church talks!  We headed for the game!  Cowboys VS Vikings.  The stadium was packed out!  People everywhere!  Loud music.  Way too loud.  Mike plugged his ears with tissues!  I'm not a born 'cowgirl' but I love the cowgirl feel!  Cowboy hats, boots and attire is great!!!  The game was exciting and really exciting when they won!!!  As we left the game, Uncle John knew where to go to see some of the players leave the stadium.  We got to see some guys walk out through and get into their expensive cars and drive away.  Cheers and screams were everywhere whenever another player would come out of the building.  We are all human right?  I guess some are just a little more exciting to see!?!

When we left, we talked about 'the world'.  How so many people are lost and not saved!  How so many drink away their problems or think that's the way to have a good time.  So sad.

John Smoker was our designated driver.  We got places 'fast'!!!  :)  He gets on his phone, punches in our destination and off we go!  Roaring on the huge Texas highways!!!  He took us past some huge ranches.  We went way too many times through the Starbucks driveway.  The four days we were there, the drive through lady recognize us.  Maybe it's because we where there a lot?  Or maybe because every time Uncle John ordered our whole spiel, we all started to laugh to tears?  Once we even payed $2 for a small cup of cream when all we wanted was a little bit for one coffee!  Total howl!!!  :)

Monday, we had some time to do some shopping before our flight home.  It was raining so that meant we had to focus on something inside.  We went to a mall.  When it was time to catch our flight, we were ready to head back north.  We got home at midnight.

Thank you Jesus for our safe flights and for watching over our families while we were gone!  Thank YOU!!!  Also, many thanks to Uncle John, Kathy, John and Damien for inviting us to go along to Texas!!!  We both really enjoyed it and you guys are very special to us!!!  Many blessings to you and your families!!!
