* Snow and Ice *

We are now freezing our tans off because the snow has arrived on our back door!!!  It's so cold and windy and the snow came in big white flurries!

I didn't even know snow was in the forecast until we meet with Mike's family Wednesday morning.  We still hadn't seen or talked to Dad's since that phone call from Mom Lapp last Friday.  With us just arriving in Atlanta for our first lay over and then from there heading to Belize for five days, had us apart and not communicating much.  Dad's had asked for all the kids to meet at their house Wednesday morning at 8 to discuss a bit of the journey so far with fighting pancreatic cancer.

One minute I thought I was ready to face this.  To see them.  To talk and hug and cry together.  But then the next minute I wanted it to not be reality!  To not face it but to ignore the facts.  It's hard but it was SO good to see everyone and sit together and pray and talk and discuss and cry and then try to think positive!!!  Dad's did leave again for Florida around 10 that morning.  They had their things still down there and it's Dad's favorite place on earth ... so they went.  They now have many decisions to make.  Doctors to call.  Appointments to go to.  Treatment plans to discuss!!!  Dad asked each of us to please pray for wisdom and that they would know which direction to turn to!!!  Both Mom and Dad, frankly all of us, are taking this disease diagnoses hard but they will fight!!!  We told them that we will stand behind them and pray for them!!!  Which ever route they take from here on out with getting Dad well, we will encourage them and stand behind them!!!

And that's when the talk about snow coming came news to Mike and I.

I came back home but just couldn't get my mind around all of this!  I had about five loads of laundry waiting on me.  Austin was so happy to be back home and was thriving for my attention.  Ginger needed to be picked up at Sadie's.  I still hadn't eaten much because it was all I had to get the kids up for school, hug and kiss them lots before heading out the door to talk with Mike's parents.  Hadassah begged to go see her Daudy Lapp so I needed to drop off at school after the meeting.  Everything seems to stop and it makes you take a long look at life!!!  What is really important?  Hearing Dad say that he has peace through all of this was a humongous blessing!!!  Being right with God and asking your children to pray for you is a wonderful spot to be at when facing a cancerous disease.

I turned on my Pandora Radio and listened closely to the words of "one day at a time sweet Jesus, that's all I'm asking from you ..." and "how great Thou art" and so many other encouraging songs!!!  It got me through the house chores and by the time the kids were all home from school, I was ready to talk to them about Belize and hear their stories.  We enjoyed the evening at home so much together!!!

Thursday morning we woke up to snow on the ground and the wind howling!!!  It got so cold and as soon as Ashlyn opened the door to go scoop up some snow to eat, the cold air came rushing in.  She went to the front door and that was much better!!!  She loves to eat snow and she couldn't wait to have a plate full!!!  :)))

School started out with only a two hour delay but then canceled.  Lena called and asked if Matthew would like to go with Matt and Hunter to the Sportsman's Show???  Of course!  Adrian stayed here while Lena went to get some wedding decorating finished up and then to Anthony's wedding in the late afternoon.

These two have a great time together!!!

Snow delivery!!!  :)))

Her favorite!!!  Snow ... hand delivered from God!  :)))

Hadassah's basketball game got cancelled and so did her volleyball games for later last night.  This gave us another night at home.  Inside our warm house is such a blessing!!!  We read books.  Played toys.  Did dishes.  :/  Gave baths.  Hunter and Adrian were here till after the wedding.

We all got tucked into bed secretly hoping for another two hour delay!  :)))

*****************************

The phone rang at 6 AM and it was another school delay!!!  Perfect!  The kids got to sleep in again!  The snow isn't deep but now everything is frozen.  Our driveway is a mess!!!

We are off to more sports game for today!  Winter is showing us that it is still here.  Spring, we hope you come soon rather than later!!!  For today, "let it snow"!
