Softball, green beans & weekend memories

It was a warm weekend.  We spent most of our time outdoors!  The AC is running day and night at our home, but we chose to be in the heat watching Mike play some ball.

There was a tournament in our neighborhood and Mike was asked to help play.  The team he helped did great and even went into the final game!

Friday night, we watched a game and they won.  Saturday morning Mike had to work, but as soon as he could went to the ballpark.  He helped with the 2:00 game and then played hard all night long.  The weather was warm.  He played first base and he did great even though that's not his normal postion.  He hit a homerun and many other great base hits!!!

The kids and I cheered.  Hadassah and Matthew love ballgames and enjoyed being their friends at the park too.  I took Ashlyn to mom in laws late Saturday night.  I cleaned her from all the ballgame dust and then she slept there till we picked her up at 12:30 AM.  Yep, that's right.  The games went late into the night and we never got to bed till 1:00 AM.  Morning came too soon!!!

Hadassah wanted to keep score so she made her own little score paper.  Matthew liked that!
 I did too.

Woke up Sunday morning still feeling tired but it was a beautiful morning and baby was ready to be awake.  That always gets me up and about.  I received a phone call at 7:30 AM saying that a local lady was in a golf cart accident and died.  She left behind a husband and six small, dear children!

My heart ached.  It sank right to the floor.  How and why could this be the plan that God chose for this family?  It seems so unfair.  So sad.  So unbearable.  But ... we can never lose hope in God.  He does always know best.  Do we know best?  No.  Do we understand?  We don't have to.  Do we still trust God in the hard times?  We try.  Does life at all seem fair or easy?  Never.  Count our blessings one by one and love, love, love ... TODAY!

Everytime a tradegy happens like this sad story, I seem to cherish what I have even more.  My husband.  My children.  Our health.  Our home.  Our families.  Our friends.  Our EVERYTHING BLESSINGS!!!

May God's presence fill the lives of this Esh Family.  God will be your strenth.  He promises that.  Keeping you and your families in prayer!!!

It's green bean season and I've done two batches of canning them.  Fill the jars with clean green beans.  Add 1 tsp. salt, 1 Tb. apple cidar vinegar, & 1 tsp. chopped onions.  Fill the jars with water and cold pack for 45 minutes.  Easy and yummy!!!

Green beans and Ashlyn enjoying them raw!!!

We went to Hobo supper last night.  Our friends gathered around for some great food!  We were told that's its a hobo supper, but Mike and I were the only ones dressed up like hobo's.  Whatever???  The night was fun though.  We ate, we swam in the pool, and we enjoyed each other's company!!!  The night campfire talks are always a highlight!!!  We just love our friends ... all of them!!!  Thanks Matt and Marlene for hosting us and for the wonderful eats!!!

Here we are as hobo's!!!
Here's the food ... cook it all together and dump it right out on the table clothe.  Dig in ...
