Mountains with the Riehl's ...

We are back from another weekend away spending time with family in the woods.

This past weekend we went to my parents small cabin up north.  Dad also has a big pole barn with bathrooms, bedrooms, and a small kitchen beside the cabin.  We spent most of our time in the pole barn or outside.

The kids made a tee pee in the woods the last time we were up there.  They were very pleased to see that everything was still in great condition!  They added some green ferns for carpet inside.  They laid stones around it and even made a small garden.  They planted corn cobs to make it look like food growing!  They spent a lot of time playing in the tee pee.

KanJam and Golf were our popular games!  So fun!

Adorable Niece ... Shakia.
The hammocks are always a hit and fun!!!

The little girls sharing a kiss.

We also saw the wild black bears each night right outside our windows.  Dad puts all the leftover food, bacon grease, and anything else sweet out for the bear to eat.  Summer time is the see them come out of the woods and chow down.  Amazing.  The deer and bucks were also watched!

The main meal for us always at the cabin is breakfast.  We eat eggs, bacon, scrapple, mush, toast and fruit. The whole nine yards!!!  So good.  The rest of the meals are snacking and roasting hot dogs on the campfire.  Smores.  Delicious peaches and plums!  Watermelon.

While we were gone this past weekend, our cat "Friskie" had her first litter of kittens.  4 kittens but one died.  We now have three small kittens under the swing set sliding board.  Friskie seems to be doing a great job mothering them.  I can't wait to see Ashlyn play with these kittens.  She will be in pure glee!
